In Iowa, Fortified Life CCRC is implementing a virtual caregiver system called Addison Care. Developed by Electronic Caregiver in collaboration with Western Home Communities, this system provides wellness surveys and reminders to seniors via tablet computers, promoting active aging and providing the option for seniors to age in their own homes. With a current user base of 25, the goal is to expand this pioneering service throughout the WHC community, reflecting a broader trend towards virtual care solutions in the senior care sector.
Meanwhile, a web platform named Trualta is empowering family caregivers in Ohio through a partnership with the Central Ohio Area Agency on Aging (COAAA). Trualta provides free access to a wide array of resources, including articles, videos, and training modules related to caregiving skills. This platform aims to support informal caregivers, who are often family members, in their efforts to care for aging loved ones. Funded by Habitat International, it plans to support 20 homeowners within Kittitas County.
Finally, the Manitoba government in Canada has committed to creating accessible, home-like environments for seniors. Plans are in motion to construct new personal care homes and community supportive living spaces that promote aging in place. These facilities will feature innovative designs and a village-like model to enhance social interaction. This initiative demonstrates the government's commitment to senior care, with plans to open 1,200 new personal care home beds by 2025.
